Team ABC3 survey results are in - preferred mode of communication and first annual general meetingWe recently sent out a survey to the members of Team ABC3 to get input and feedback regarding our (i) first Annual General Meeting (AGM) and (ii) preferred modes of communication and the results are in. Check out the take away points!

Annual General Meeting

  • Where?  Most Team ABC3’ers will be attending the Recent Advances in the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood and Adolescent Obesity which will be held October 24-26, 2016 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario. Thus, our first AGM will be held as a satellite to this conference.
  • What?  Team members thought the best focus of our upcoming AGM would be to update the team on projects, get to know one another, and support trainees and new investigators.
  • How?  The top picks to accomplish said foci were: (1) mentorship program for trainees and new investigators, (2) a workshop resulting in a collaborative paper and, (3) getting to know one another through team building activities and effective communication tools.

Preferred method of communication

  • Not surprisingly, most of our team preferred communicating via e-mail, followed by teleconference and minutes. Last, but not least – the blog.

Stay tuned for more details about how our upcoming AGM will unfold! Big thanks to all of the Team ABC3’ers who participated in the survey!

Bonus: For more detail on effective scientific collaboration here is an older paper that provides a framework of various types of barriers and facilitators to collaboration. The data was collected on a newly formed, distributed, multi-disciplinary academic research centre across four universities, sharing similarities to Team ABC3.
